About US:

The Information Analytics and Visualization (IAV) Center is one of Centers of Excellence at Purdue im体育 Fort Wayne. The IAV Center opened on February 23, 2011 with a $500,000 grant awarded from the Lilly Endowment Inc. through the Talent Initiative Program

The IAV Center serves as a valuable resource for northeast Indiana that strives to support excellence in teaching and learning at Purdue Fort Wayne, and contribute to the development of the region through research and innovative endeavor. The center conducts research pertaining to information analytics and visualization, develops collaborative projects with regional industry and other research institutions, and engages in multidisciplinary projects with faculty and students from across the university. Several projects are on-going with Purdue Fort Wayne students, faculty, and other collaborating institutions in the areas of visualization, virtual reality, computer graphics, simulation, 3D vision technology, and mobile graphics. Our research projects have been funded by NSF/S2ERC, Lilly Endowment Inc., Purdue Fort Wayne, and regional industry.

The IAV Center equipped with cutting-edge computing resources, including: a one-wall projection system with an optical tracking system; 20-node 160 core Beowulf cluster; SGI Altix UV 10 graphics workstation; workstations designed for intensive graphics applications; and 3D vision display and haptic devices.

 

Our Mission:

The mission of the IAV Center is:

  • to promote and conduct research pertaining to information analytics and visualization;
  • to provide state-of-the-art resources for faculty and students to engage in multidisciplinary research in the areas of visualization, information processing and visual analytics, data mining and knowledge discovery, virtual reality technology, usability engineering, semantic computing, machine learning, networking, and security;
  • actively seek partnerships with regional business, industry, and government enterprises to collaborate on projects of mutual interest, to obtain state and federal grants, and to offer seminars and workshops addressing contemporary research, technology, and applications.

This system is the VisCube C2-HD Wall to Floor, 13.3' Wide 1920x1080 per surface display that uses A.R.T Optical Tracking System and the FlyStick3 3D Navigator to create a 3D Stereoscopic Environment.

 The 3D Stereoscopic Wall utilizes two projectors that shoot projection onto a mirror that is then displayed on the Wall as a 3D image.

Beowulf Cluster System for the IAVC

These two computers run the high performance graphic applications too the projector system and utilizes the A.R.T Optical Tracking System and FlyStick3 to navigate and present the 3D Applications created on these devices.

Altix UV 10 is a 4U, standard-depth rackmount system with up to 32 processor cores and 512GB of shared memory in 64DIMM slots. The quad-socket model provides particularly high performance for a server in its class when it comes to I/O-bound and memory-bound applications such as in-memory and very large databases.

Touch is a motorized device that applies force feedback on the users' hand, allowing them to feel virtual objects and producing true-to-life touch sensations as users manipulates on-screen 3D objects. Leading companies integrate Touch haptic devices into their work to achieve compelling solutions using the realistic sense of touch.

This Wand by ART provides a 3D position and orientation, joystick axis, and multiple buttons that allows someone to navigate and grab objects in the 3D application's environment.

This 4 Panel, 4K Video Wall utilizes a Graphics Workstation with a NVIDIA RTX 2080 to display a  3840 x 2160 pixel resolution to show High-Definition visualizations of intense graphic applications and large scale data.
